The 2023 South West Academy of Sport's Albemarle Fun Run saw hundreds of participants either walking or running in the family-friendly event when it was held earlier this month.

Competitors could choose from a 10km run, 5km run or 5km walk in junior and senior categories.

Meanwhile, a special 2km category gave school-aged children the opportunity to experience the thrill of participating in a fun run — many for the first time.

Community Relations Advisor Erin Van Noort said it was a great day for all involved.

“There were many familiar faces in the run representing the Albemarle workforce along with some new runners this year. It was also great to award first place for the 10km race to Cohen McLennan, son of our Emergency Response Lead Chris McLennan," Erin said.

“I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank our Albemarle volunteers Leah Cowcill, daughter Mille, and Kelly Howard who were kept busy in the early morning at the registration desk. Without your support and commitment, events like these are not possible."
