POWERHOUSE LITHIUM PROMPTS MASSIVE RECRUITMENT DRIVE FOR THE SOUTH WEST

May 15, 2023

The billion dollar expansion of Albemarle’s Kemerton lithium hydroxide processing plant in Western Australia’s south-west is fuelling a recruitment drive by the company.

Albemarle will host an exhibit at the South West Careers Expo as part of its search for future employees. The expo will be held at the Bunbury Catholic College Gymnasium on Wednesday 17 May 2023, from 10.30am until 4.30pm, with a focus on career pathways and recruitment opportunities.

Albemarle Country Manager Beverley East said the Kemerton expansion would create over 1000 construction jobs and more than 370 additional operations roles when completed.

“Albemarle is already a major South West employer, having created the nation’s most advanced downstream critical mineral manufacturing facility near Bunbury,” Ms East said.

“Kemerton is the biggest lithium plant in the nation and our significant investment to build two additional processing trains highlights not just the critical role of Australia in the lithium supply chain, but the boon to the local, State and national communities in terms of jobs and economic boost.

“We prioritise local employment and expansion will create hundreds of jobs through our contractors and also through direct employment with Albemarle.

“We know that many workers want to work in clean energy and Kemerton’s expansion provides a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the transition to green energy and a more resilient world.”

Ms East said the company offered a range of direct employment opportunities including advanced manufacturing, health and safety, logistics and procurement.

Albemarle will also undertake recruitment through its upcoming apprenticeship, graduate, and undergraduate program intakes in 2024.
